My 2 year old son is a new Thomas the tank fun, so I decided to make this fondant cake for his 2nd birthday. I’ve never made a birthday cake before and I didn’t really think I’d succeed, but it ended up a very pretty cake to be proud of. I used 2 x 25cm. cakes. One for the bottom and one for the top (cut in half and placed on top of each other).
I covered both with butter cream and the covered them with green and blue colored fondant. I then spread some butter cream on the top half of the green cake and placed the blue on top.
Then it was time for decorating. My husband helped me a bit with the fondant cutouts for the trees, clouds and rail lines. They were all made free hand with scissors or knife.
