Coolest Tinkerbell Cake

I love this website and I return here every time there is a birthday coming!

My daughter was turning 6 and wanted a three-tier Tinkerbell cake for her party. After making the three-tier Strawberry Shortcake last year (also from this website) and taking it to another location for her 5th birthday, I felt like a pro. She found a cake she liked and I changed it to suite our needs. No problem, princess!

I used two different cake mixes for making the three layers. I used a 9 inch round set of pans for the bottom layer. I used Wilton 6 inch pans for the middle layer, which only used part of the second cake mix. I took what was left of the second cake mix and put it in two Easy-Bake oven pans for the top layer.

After all the layers cooled, I used Pillsbury vanilla frosting that I had tinted with Wilton decorator colors to make the various designs. Very low tech… I cut the tips off baggies filled with frosting.

Each layer was on a separate cake taker to go to the party. At the party I used 2 spatulas to piece the cake together. There were a few rough spots, but all in all it had the desired effect. The topper was from a cake purchased last year from Walmart. I was happy to reuse it this year.

This homemade Tinkerbell cake was very fun and very easy. My daughter was thrilled!

  1. I am a pretty good baker, and I have made lovely cakes and cupcakes in the past. But when my almost eight year old daughter asked for a Tinkerbell birthday cake, I cringed. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, and I was already dreading it. Somehow, when I saw this cake, I became overjoyed at the thought of making it for her. And she LOVED the idea, so we’re going to make it for her birthday party in two weeks. Thanks for posting this, so I am able to enjoy putting her party together as much as she enjoys the party :)
