My Very First Wedding Cake

I made this cake for Jason & Amy’s wedding.  Sadly the marriage didn’t last, but the cake was great.  The bride wanted a 3 layer, all white cake.  We started with square cakes.  A 14″ for the bottom layer, a 12″ for the middle layer and a 6″ for the top layer.  The fondant is homemade for better flavor.  On the sides of the bottom layer there are 3 small flowers with white leaves, which are made from gum paste.  This was also my first time using gum paste.  Not too bad for a beginner.

The middle layer has 2 flowers on each side and the top has one.  The corners of each layer also have the same flowers.  We filled the center of the bottom and middle layers with white silk orchards, per the bride’s request, and topped it off with a white cross with a bride and groom.  This cake presented a lot of challenges, but I think overall it turned out pretty well.  Not too bad for a beginner!
