I made this Jake and the Neverland Pirates birthday cake for a friend’s little 5 year old boy. Ran all over town trying to find the characters. The main part of the cake is chocolate flavored, double layered 10″. The cupcakes, white cake so as to have a choice for the kids. I made a small 4 inch cake for Jake to stand on to make him look like he was on a hill, covered the main cake with blue waves for the water, the top with grass, carving out a side of the main cake to make my beach.
The sand is crushed almonds spread on the frosting, surrounded by edible rocks. Took 2 cupcakes and turned upside down to make 2 islands, covered in the grass, for Jake’s pirate friends. The other cupcakes frosted in blue to create waves, each with a pirate flag and silver covered chocolate coins. A few trees, a little sand (almonds) sprinkled about and created a cool cake that the kids and adults alike loved.
