Cool Homemade Alligator Birthday Cake

I made this Alligator Birthday Cake for my nephew’s 5th Birthday. I made several rectangle cakes for the body and tail, and stacked them two high to ensure I was able to get the depth in the cake. The head was cut out of a square cake stacked two high.

I firstly traced the sizes of the tins on paper and then drew the alligator free hand. Then I cut out the drawing and stuck it on the cake. The eyes and nostrils are marshmallows, stuck to the cake with toothpicks. I think all up I used 10 X 340Gr cake mixes.

I piped all the icing, which took a long time, but was worth it. The claws are also piped icing, I just used a thicker and flatter nib.
