This life buoy cake was made for a friend’s daughter who just finished a lifeguard course. I bought a ring shaped silicon pan for it, and filled it with chocolate cake. Then I coated the cake with a smooth cherry flavored jam, and covered the cake in white sugar dough. I found it easier to cover the cake in sections. Most of the seams are covered by the decoration, except one is still showing.
The decorations are Twizzlers for the rope – I poked them through the icing. And sour sticks for the red tape -3 sticks for each piece of red “tape” -glued on with the cherry jelly. They didn’t eat it yet, but I know it is delicious!
