My oldest daughter was turning 10 in July and wanted at least a 2 tiered cake for her birthday and she loves Littlest pet shop,(she owns at least 100 of the pets) so we went online and got some neat Littlest Pet Shop Beach Scene Cake Ideas to look like the beach and use the pets as the decoration.
I made a pound cake from scratch using the butter cake recipe from Wilton.com for the bottom tier and iced it with buttercream. The top tier was homemade chocolate pound cake with peanutbutter buttercream icing (also from Wilton.com)
I used crushed graham crackers for sand and colored the buttercream icing royal blue for the ocean.
I stacked the cake and used wooden dowels for support. I piped waves with royal blue and white icing that I hadn’t blended completely, so it gave a two-toned color effect. I used green icing to pipe seaweed around the bottom.
The cake was delicious and very moist, and my daughter loved it!
