Coolest Minnie Mouse Birthday Cake

I used suggestions from others on this site to make this Minnie Mouse Birthday Cake for my daughter’s 2nd birthday. The face is actually made from a large round torte pan, and the ears were made from the metal flour/sugar canisters I have in my kitchen because I couldn’t find any small round pans in any nearby store (my alternative was to use a Corningware casserole dish and bake cakes one at a time.)

I cut small semi-circles out of each “ear” to fit around the “head” and then used those scraps of cake to make each end of the bow. The center of the bow came from a cupcake that I cut into a square. I used canned white frosting and tinted it for the skin color, used chocolate frosting for the ears, and purchased tubes of black and pink decorator icing for the tongue, outline, and other facial features. The bow is frosted with white frosting and then completely smothered in pink sugar sprinkles and topped with white frosting dots using my Pampered Chef Easy Accent Decorator.

This photo is not quite the finished product as I then outlined the face between the skin and “hairline” with the black icing to make it more distinct and to give it a more finished look. It got rave reviews!
