My son had a monkey themed 1st birthday. I decided that I wanted a Monkey 1st Birthday Cake Idea. This was my first time working with fondant and Modeling chocolate. I made both from scratch to add to the pressure. The cake is a two layer 8” round and a two layer 5” round. The cupcake on top is from a 3d cupcake pan that holds 4 jumbo cupcakes.
I covered both layers in yellow, banana flavored marshmallow fondant. Then cut out the shapes and numbers etc. in other colors of the same fondant. For the monkey I made it out of modeling chocolate. For the jumbo cupcake, after making the cupcake, I painted the bottom half of the mold with chocolate melts to make the red “cupcake wrapper” I also made bananas out of the fondant.
