Coolest Monster Truck Birthday Cake

My son wanted a Monster Truck Birthday Cake. I baked a 9X13 cake and two loaf pans. I used the loaf pans to make the cab of the truck. A monster truck needs to sit up off the ground, so I put the cake on a cake board (cut to size) and under that I put four wooden blocks (toys) that supported the cake. That elevated the cake approx. two inches. For wheels I used chocolate covered donuts and I stuck lollipop sticks through them to attach them to the cake.

I did do a bit of carving to try to get the cake to look truck like. I probably could have done a little more but, hindsight is 20/20.

I wasn’t super happy with the color. It looks grayish, but was supposed to be purple. I should have just bought purple food coloring from the cake shop instead of trying to mix colors on my own. I used a butter cream icing recipe that I got from Wilton’s Website. It worked very well for my purpose. I did double the recipe. It was time consuming but not that difficult.

Good luck to you!
