Coolest Race Track Cake

I got the idea for this Racetrack cake from this website! Thanks so much! I used an 18 x 2 cake pan and 2 yellow butter cake mixes! My oven is a little smaller and at the last minute had to go to my moms to cook it, so make sure your oven is large enough for the pan!

I used chocolate icing tinted black and covered the entire top of cake with this color. Next I used Wilton’s yellow icing in a tube for the outline of the track and the lines on the road. I had black sugar that I used on the track to give it a little shimmer – you can used crushed Oreos as well.

I then used a no. 16 tip and filled in the top of the cake that was not track with icing tinted leaf green. I used a can of black icing found in grocery stores that comes with 4 plastic tips for the checkerboard design both on the top and on the sides of the cake and then filled in the corresponding holes with white icing.

Along the very bottom of the cake sides I used red icing and made a simple stripe all the way around. I bought two cars and put them on the cake to finish it off.

This was for my son’s 4th birthday and everyone loved it!
