I made this Sonic the Hedgehog Birthday Cake for my son’s 4th birthday party. I thought for sure I’d be making a Lightning McQueen cake since that was the big hit around the house for so long but we found an old Sonic movie and that was the end of that. He’s still into Sonic and he’s almost 5.
Since no one really makes Sonic birthday stuff these days I knew I had to wing it. So I printed a picture of Sonic, blew it up and got creative! I had to find a way to trace Sonic onto the cake so I used wax paper and gel icing. I made the Wilton buttercream icing and colored it blue, red and peach for all the parts of Sonic and just used the leftover gel icing for his smile and nose.
It really was time consuming but not difficult and so worth the look on my son’s face. Turned out awesome if I don’t say so myself!
