Coolest Spongebob Cake

I decided to make this Homemade Spongebob Cake for my daughter’s 5th birthday party when none of the stores that makes Spongebob cakes impressed me. I just bought a Wilton 12×18 pan and colored the Wilton icing with Wilton icing coloring to get true colors. I drew freehand the face with a toothpick after icing with yellow.

The brown pants is just store bought chocolate icing. The sleeves and the legs to the pants are iced Ho-Ho’s which are cut in half. The eyes have brown M&M’s in the middle. As I am very much an amateur I couldn’t help but get the chocolate cake crumbs in my icing while spreading so if you know how to prevent this, please let me know.

Other than that this was my first cake and I am excited to do more in the future.

  1. Great cake ! I will be doing this for my son’s birthday in April.

Butter the top of your cake lightly as it cools, I use stick butter and rub it gently just putting a small amount on. Then let cake cool completely. I personally let it sit for a couple of hours. That should help stop the crumbs in your icing.
