Adorable Homemade Minnie Mouse Cake and Cupcakes

I made a cookies and cream cake and cupcakes for my daughter’s 2nd birthday.

For the top cake part I used a pyrex bowl that was big enough to fit on top of cupcake stand (6″). Then I lined bottom of bowl with regular sized Oreos. Then I filled it with white cake mix and baked. Iced with homemade buttercream icing, using a rosette pattern. Decorated with black fondant Minnie mouse ears & polka dot red fondant bow.

For daughter’s name, used black fondant and spliced it in half to make red fondant attach, so gives a half black/red appearance. I used white polka dot fondant on red part of lettering (made from end of icing tip).

For cupcakes used liners in pan that were black with white polka dots, then added regular sized Oreos in bottom and used my scooper to add white cake mix and baked. Used same buttercream icing. Decorated with mini Oreos for ears and edible sugar bows (packaged and store bought). Then added red mini sugar candy balls & black/white color sprinkles. I mixed and matched to the different bows on cupcakes.

I got so many compliments and questions on how I did it, at the party. Was a big hit and so tasty!
