Homemade Barbie Doll Birthday Cake Idea

This Barbie Doll Birthday Cake Idea was my first time making this cake. It was so simple. I bought a Barbie doll from the dollar store. For the dress I used a glass bowl (2 qt. Pampered Chef measuring/mixing bowl). For the bottom of the dress I made an 8" round cake.

For this cake, I used two Duncan Hines cake mixes and made the "pound cake" recipe on the side of the box for a firmer but just as delish as the regular recipe. After the cake was completely cooled, I took the pants and legs off of the doll, cut a hole on the top of the cake just big enough to put Barbie in the cake.

I then frosted the whole cake before inserting the doll. I filled in the gap at the waist with a star tip. For the dress I took candy dots, dabbed a little frosting on the back for "glue" and placed them around the cake. I made a birthday sign on the computer with card stock and hot glued it to the Barbie hands with tooth picks.

Everyone couldn't believe the cake was "real" until we cut into it. It was a big hit. This is extremely easy to make, but takes time. Baking, cooling, frosting and deciding on how you want to decorate it. For a frosting that really holds up, make your own butter cream frosting and add 2 Tbls. of Meringue powder for durability.

Homemade Barbie Doll Birthday Cake Idea

I had this Barbie Doll Birthday Cake Idea for my daughter's 4th birthday. She wanted a doll cake so this was my attempt to make her wish come true. I made 2 round pound cakes and one small half a circle cake. I put strawberries and whipped cream in between the layers. Cut a whole for the Barbie to slide through, then wrapped her legs in plastic wrap and inserted her up to her waist.

I iced the cake with whipped buttercream icing. I used a star tip for the shirt. I added small sugar pearls for detail. I also added a few small flowers for decoration. This cake was actually not that hard to make. This was my first time and it came out decent.

This is my first Homemade Barbie Doll Birthday Cake Idea I ever made. I got the idea of making this cake in the internet. I used 2 packets of chiffon cake. I shaped and trimmed the cake like a gown. Since there was already a hole in the center I just inserted the doll easily then put some excess cake from the trimming I made.

I covered the cake with butter icing from Wilton recipe. The decoration was the hard part but I was able to do it slowly. Here is the finished product.

Homemade Barbie Doll Birthday Cake Idea

I made this Barbie Doll Birthday Cake Idea for my daughter's 3rd year birthday. Got lots of ideas from this site. Baked a cake in a mixing bowl. Took off the legs from a cheap doll and inserted it into the cake. Frosted the whole cake including the top of the dress with whipped cream frosting. Added lots of chocolate sprinkles. Made ornaments out of foil for the doll.
