Homemade Cookie Monster Birthday Cake

I followed the instructions of a Homemade Cookie Monster Birthday Cake posted here before, but I made some changes.

I used from bottom to top: one round 10 inch, two round 9 inch, one 8", one Pyrex 1qt cut for the neck shape, two 1.5 qt bowl Pyrex for the head, one roast beef pan for the feet and finally one square 9" for the hands.

I mounted every round cake with round carton between them, and secure hands, feet and head with lolly pops sticks and toothpicks. It took me an entire day so plan ahead.

I used blue royal for the color, and it came to life. I wish I had more time for the decoration part, but my guest started arriving so I had to rush it a little.

The satisfaction was to see my son in his 2nd birthday with a big smile and say at the cake: cookie! am am am!

My son has an allergy to eggs so we found a great Chocolate Cake recipe on www.ochef.com

We just used food colouring and white vanilla icing to make the decorations. I didn't have a decorating kit so I used Ziploc bags with a small corner cut out of it. Easy to fill and toss, no mess. The smaller the hole, the thinner the lettering. (I Should have practiced first on a piece of paper! Will do next time).

I just covere with blue icing and used a fork to make the fur effect like you were combing it's hair. Wish I could have cooled the icing a bit so the details would show more. Used gummies for his eyes and a real cookie.

The egg-less and milk-less chocolate cake turned out fluffy and better than box cake mixes.

I used a blend of ideas from this website to make this Cookie Monster Birthday Cake . I used the Wilton 3D teddy bear cake pan and the tip that is typically used for grass to ice him. I cut the hands and face to make it look like cookie monster eating a cookie. I used a few melted chocolate chips to color white frosting to look like a cookie and put chocolate chips on the cookie.

I used marshmallows for the eyes with a toothpick to keep them in place. I then made cupcakes with the left over cake mix (teddy bear takes about a box and a half of cake mix to fill) then iced the same a the cookie he is eating again with real chocolate chips on top.

My daughter had planned a Cookie Monster Party for her son's 1st Birthday. Little did we know that there are no decorations or plates with just the Cookie Monster. So we made many of our own decorations, another daughter is very artistic, so we went to town! This Cookie Monster Birthday Cake was a big hit.

I made my first decorated cake! There was a full size Cookie Monster to pin the cookie on top of the one in his hand, there was a Eddie Street which resembled Sesame Street signs, cookie bags as treats which had Cookie Monster faces attached to them, we even ordered a pinata that kind of looked like the Cookie Monster.

I made this Cookie Monster Birthday Cake for my son's second birthday by improvising with an Elmo pan. I used chocolate icing for his mouth and mini Oreo cookies for his eyes. I also made matching cupcakes, for which I broke Oreo cookies in half for his mouth. He loved it! He was crazy for Cookie Monster at the time!
