Coolest Castle Cake

I made this castle cake for my daughter’s 5th birthday party. I used the Wilton castle cake set for it and bought my own frosting and ingredients. It took quite a long time, all in all, including baking, it took me about 11 hours to put this together.

For the windows and towers I iced them and then rolled them in pink sparkles, this was the most fiddly and time consuming part of all. The actual cake is a 2 tier cake supported with cake boards and dowel rods.

I used the easy cook icing pens for the green icing and I bought the pink flowers from an eBay site. Everything on this cake is edible apart from the towers, windows, door and roof part as they are plastic, from the Wilton set.

I just used a 9″ round tin for the bottom cake and a 6″ round tin for the top cake. I baked 2 of each and put them together with a filling in the middle.

The slices came out really big on this cake and it feeds a lot of people.
