This Construction Tools Birthday Cake is made of half yellow, half chocolate cake mixes in a half sheet cake size baking pan. I drew the saw and the tape measure free hand. I took an actual hammer and traced it to create a template and then I cut it out of the cake.
All the icing is colored butter cream. The hardest part was holding one side of the handle of the hammer so I could get icing on the other side. This was such a narrow piece of cake. But with patience I got the icing on there without braking off any cake.
The gentleman this was for turned 65 and almost cried when he saw it. That is why I like doing this.
