Homemade Fishing Bobber Cake
For this homemade fishing bobber cake I started out by making two 8" or 9" round cakes. I like to line the bottom of my cake pans with waxed paper so that the cakes come out easily. I frosted 1/2 of it white and the other 1/2 red. You could use other colors like yellow and orange if you wished. I just thought that red and white were the most "traditional" bobber colors.
For the top I used a 3" round cake pan, if you don't have a round pan this small you could also use a cupcake. I attached it with frosting and toothpicks. My husband added the bottom spring thing by using a black pipe cleaner. His suggestion was black shoestring licorice, but I didn't have any on hand. Then I accented it with candy gummy worms.
My son was thrilled with this easy homemade fishing bobber cake! I also made cupcakes to match this cake and used them for his party with his friends. I frosted them with "blue water" frosting and topped them with a gummy worm and bobber.
For party favors the children had their bobbers and I made fish id books for their tackle-boxes with pictures of common fish and fish facts for that species. For the invite I put a lure on the front and wrote "Take the bait and help us celebrate!" On the inside I had bobbers also.
