This Minnie Mouse Birthday Cake Design was made for my daughter’s 3rd birthday. It is a two tiered cake with a double layer 9 inch bottom of dark chocolate fudge cake and a 6 inch top double layer of yellow cake. It was iced with buttercream and covered with fondant. All the decorations are fondant except the ears are rice krispie treats covered with fondant.
This is my 3rd fondant cake and my first 2 tiered cake. It was my first time using dowels for support. I realized how important the support is when the bottom tier started to buckle a little even with the support. Maybe bigger dowel rods next time?! I was able to fix it by smoothing and trimming the fondant at the bottom. I got the design idea from online but made a few changes to try to make it unique.
My little girl was very happy!
