Homemade Princess Wands Cake

Homemade Princess Wands Cake

A friend was having a Princess themed party for her twin 3 year-old girls and wanted individual special cakes for them. I came up with this idea of a Princess Wands Cake based on the wands my own girls used when playing dress up.

I baked 2 rounds of chocolate and 2 rounds of yellow pound cake. I first froze the cake rounds before cutting them out in the star shape using a large star cookie cutter. Each cake has a yellow and chocolate layer separated with homemade butter cream. Crumb coat was the same buttercream.

The fondant is the store-bought Wilton brand. I colored half pink and half purple and covered it as you see it. The stick part are wooden dowels covered in strips of fondant wound to look like ribbon. The balls on the end are just balls of fondant.

I dusted the tops of the stars with edible glitter dust, then piped buttercream stars around the bottom to clean up some unevenness.
