I searched for a while to try and find inspiration for a 30th birthday cake for a metal head! Creating a proper guitar seemed ambitious for transportation reasons so I decided to make cupcakes instead with set icing guitars and stars. Cupcakes are not typically rock an roll so I was sure to find some more ‘metal’ cases and decorations. Red and black seemed appropriate. I used ready to roll icing and gel food dyes so as not to make it runny.
Everyone was really impressed with the cakes as they were spot on for a guitarist in a local metal band but were easy to distribute to everyone and tasted great, even if I do say so myself! i really enjoyed making everything and made a number of other novelty cakes since; a Noah’s ark, treasure chest, Iggle Piggle (from In the Night Garden) and a rock climbing cake!
