Easy Homemade Dinosaur Cake

I baked 2 white cake mixes (that I added green food coloring to), which made 48 green cupcakes for this dinosaur cake. I made sure to buy green cupcake wrappers so it would look like the rest of the green stegosaurus.

After the cupcakes cooled, I arranged them on the serving tray.  I frosted the cupcakes green and then put them in the fridge to cool, then I gave them a second green coat and put them back in the fridge to cool again. I pulled them out and used a paper towel to smooth the green frosting, giving it a nice clean look.  Then I added fruit roll-ups for the stegosaurus’ spikes that I had cut into triangles and applied to the cupcake cake. Then I took a tube of blue frosting and added the outline of the dinosaur and the wording. I added a few pink sprinkles around the outside of the blue outline in order to delineate the dinosaur from the rest of the green cake.

My daughter and her friends loved it!
