What an honor it was to create a cake to celebrate the High School Graduation of two incredible kids. When I ask about the theme for the party I was told: Jasmine likes purple, peace signs and music, Nykael likes red, plants, music…they both play the Clarinet. The school colors are red and black and the mascot is a Bulldog. I decided it should be a three tier cake; one for each of the kids and the top tier for the school colors and mascot.
The first cake is four layers, two rainbow colored and two marbled purple. I trimmed the cake with purple frosting and decorated it with multi colored candy peace signs made with candy melts and a mold. The second tier is a carrot cake decorated with a fondant flower garden and butter cream grape vines with bunches of fondant grapes to represent his future studies in horticulture.
The top tier was trimmed in red butter cream and decorated with candy musical notes made from candy melts and a mold. The mascot Bulldog, two diplomas and the yearbook were made from fondant. The large lettering on the cakes is cut from fondant and the writing on the diplomas and yearbook was done with edible ink markers.
