Coolest Guitar With Microphone Cake

I bought the largest pan I could find and used two boxes of cake mix and three cans of frosting for this guitar with microphone cake. I prepared the pan by greasing and flouring the bottom before pouring the cake mix in. Bake for 30 minutes at 325 and let it cool before flipping it out of the pan.

I covered a large piece of heavy cardboard with foil. After the cake cooled I placed the cardboard on top of the pan and held each side as I turned it over. The cake came out very easy but did have a little flour around the edges which peeled off with ease. I made my own pattern. The top of the guitar was a separate piece that I frosted together. I used Pink Vanilla frosting for the body and top of the guitar and Chocolate for the neck.

Before frosting I put the cake in the freezer, it’s a great tip! I used York peppermint patties as the knobs, purple frosting as pickups, black decorative writing pens for the strings and marshmallows for the machine heads (knobs at the top where the strings are attached). I had cake left over and thought it would be cool to add a microphone.

My Daughter had a Hannah Montana party and this cake was such a hit. It was so fun and easy to make!
