I made this High Heel shoe cake for my friend’s wife, yes, she loves glamorous shoes. The stand is made from perforated plastic, and was cut and bent into the shape.
The cake itself is vanilla sponge with a vanilla butter cream. Once the cake was carved into the shape I needed, I dirty iced it with more vanilla butter cream.
Next step was to cover with ivory colored fondant, I have to be honest, that was not easy. I needed an extra set of hands. The heel is molded out of modeling chocolate, modeling chocolate holds up better than fondant.
The leopard print is hand painted with edible paint by brush. The cala lily spray is gum paste, I ordered it online. I haven’t attempted making cala lilies yet, for $20 I got 2 sprays. For that price it seemed worth it.
The cake was a huge hit, everyone loved it. Keep in mind it’s not a lot of cake, this cake was about 16″ long. It fed about 15 people.
