This Lady Bug Cake was made for a one year old. She was having a lady bug theme birthday party. The bottom layer is Red Velvet cake, and the top is chocolate. I used a 10 inch cake pan for the top and made two layers and 8 inch for the top also two layers. I used buttercream icing for both teirs. The lady bug, leaves, names, and polka dots were all make a few day inadvance so the could harden. I used edible glue to paste them on.
The small lady bugs on each side of the name were made out of Royal icing. For the antlers on the lady bug I used very thin wire and curled it with wire cutters. I trimmed the cake using a shell tip. This was not a hard cake, preparing things before hand helped out a lot.
