Coolest Laser Tag Cake

I made this Laser Tag Cake for my son’s 7th birthday. His party is going to be at a sports and laser tag facility, so he wanted me to make something laser tag related. I looked online everywhere and only found 3 pictures of laser tag cakes…so I thought I would add this for everyone to have a reference.

I thought it was going to be much harder than it actually was. I made a 9×13 cake and cooled overnight. Next, I made a 8×8 pan of rice crispy treats for the gun, again, I let sit overnight. Next, I used the already colored fondant from AC Moore (great stuff) and used fondant cutters to make the stars and bulls-eyes. I used a shaped cutter for the belt strips on the vest. I carved out the shape of the vest from the larger cake pan and then carved the shape of the gun from the rice crispy treats (Hint: I layed a toy gun on top of the treats and carved around it for the general shape).

I started by icing the vest and gun. Next I added star tips to the perimeter of both shapes to outline them better. Next, I added the bulls-eye and belt with buckle to the vest. I decorated the gun with the other shaped fondant pieces and last added the name and the stars and laser beams around the outside of the cake board.

Hopefully he will be surprised today when he gets home from school and sees his cake. Enjoy!
