Coolest Lightning McQueen Cake

After looking at the amazing cakes on this website, I became inspired to use marshmallow fondant after being discouraged to use fondant after a really bad first time with sugar fondant. Marshmallow fondant is amazing. Since it was my first time with mm, I am sure next time will be better.

The Lightning McQueen cake! I baked two 9×11 cakes, and two loaf pans. Froze them all and took them out and carved them into the shapes I needed, using the loaf cakes. For the cabin (eyes and windows), and the rest of the upper body. For the spoiler I used both MM fondant and sugar paste. The fondant is really easy to work with and fun to make.

To attach the spoiler, I used long tooth picks which I inserted into spoiler first and then carefully into cake. Make sure you try to reinforce the back end of the cake with sturdy pieces of cake ahead of time so it is well supported. Finishing touches were made with mostly mm fondant but some sugar paste was used also.

I also used rice krispie treats for my wheels. I did two for the front tires and three for the back tires (as I was going for a more chunky look), squeeze, shape, cover, and decorate! I did have a model to go by also (Lightning McQueen Cd player/radio).

Be prepared to spend a large amount of time on this cake but the praise and happiness that comes with is well worth it!
