Coolest Pirate Cake

I went on this site and took a few ideas from several of the other pirate cakes. I started with 2 9X13 cakes for the base. I then baked 2 loaf pans as well for the ship. The base of the ship is one full loaf and then part of the other to make the front and stacked on the back to give dimension to the ship.

The dowels used to make the mast go all the way through the ship into the bottom cake for stability. I then iced the ship using store chocolate icing and the rest of the frosting is homemade whipped cream icing.

I sprayed the water with spray food coloring and the sand is graham cracker crumbs. The pirates I found at a party store and the pirate candle and treasure chest candle. The extra jewels at the treasure chest are Hershey’s kissables, the plank is a special dark bar, the cannon balls are whoppers, and the cannons are Rollos.

I printed the sails off my computer. This was my first attempt at a cake like this and everyone thought is came out great, especially my 4 year old. I can’t wait to try again for his next birthday.
