Coolest Popcorn Cake
I bought a white cake mix and prepared it according to the directions for this popcorn cake. I then baked it using a 13 x 9 cake pan. After the cake had cooled, I rounded out the top part of the cake. I then iced it with white icing. I then colored some white icing red and used it to write the words “Nana’s Popcorn”.
After that I outlined the cake to look like a bag of popcorn. I don’t have a hot air popcorn popper, so I did it myself in the microwave. (To do this I took ½ cup unpopped popcorn kernels, mixed in 1 teaspoon of oil, and added it to a brown paper lunch bag. I folded the bag over twice to seal in the ingredients and placed it in the microwave standing up. It took about 3 minutes to pop. Just listen and take it out when there is 2 seconds in between pops.)
After the popcorn had cooled, I added it to the top of the cake. It was very simple and turned out great! Plus my mom loved it!
