Coolest Race Car Cake

This was done for my little brother’s 15th birthday. This is the first cake I tried using a pan. I just didn’t think it possible to get the look I wanted for this cake without using it. So I purchased it from my local arts and crafts store.

I started the cake by baking two 11 by 14 cakes. That took 4 boxes of cake mix. I used Betty Crocker. After that I let them cool. Then I put them on my cake board side by side.

I mixed green food coloring in with whipped vanilla frosting and iced the cake so it would look like grass. Meanwhile I had put Crisco in the cake pan and poured in the batter and began to bake the NASCAR cake. When that was done I placed the car on top of the two other cakes, kind of centered. Then I mixed food coloring in with my white frostings to get all the colors I needed and began to frost the car the way the picture looked. The only thing I did different was I changed the number to my lil brother’s favorite racer.

Lastly I drew two checkered flags above the car for it to appear it was behind the car with a black gel tube and I used Hershey chocolate squares for the black checkers. Then wrote happy birthday with yellow frosting.

  1. This is a really cool cake!! I’m trying to find someone to help me make my son’s birthday cake. I see you live at a close distance from me. Maybe I can get some ideas from you! if that’s ok with you?
