We made this race track cake after looking at this site and it turned out great. It was simple to do and Kaden loved it. We took two round cakes and cut the ends of both to butt up against each other, then I made the #2 out of dark brown frosting.
I used the canned frosting with the tip and put all the grass on. I used some white frosting and put it in a small ziplock bag and snipped the end off and made the lines on the race track. I used the “Cars” little candy frosting bites for cars.
The kids loved the cake and friends and family asked me who made it! One friend said she was going to have her daughter make it next year for a 4-H project. I think it may have been easier to frost the entire cake first with a thin layer of frosting so the grass adheres a little better, but is not necessary.
