This Zombie Cake is my fiance’s favorite cake I have done. It was for his 21st birthday two years ago. It was also one of the most difficult cakes, because I carved the entire head out of sheet cakes.
The base is a small sheet cake, chocolate with Bavarian cream filling. I iced it in chocolate icing and used almost a whole package of crushed Oreo’s to cover the top. If you do not want to use the rolling pin method to crush them, a trick I use at work is to use Oreo pie crust. It is pre-crushed cookies put into a pie dish and is much easier to use.
After sculpting the head and icing it, I placed it on top of the sheet cake. The eyeballs, teeth, and fingers were made of fondant. I also used sour gummy worms and rolled them in butter cream icing (yum!).
All in all, the cake was really fun and my honey loved it!
