I have been personalizing birthday cakes for years now, and I have never spent more than $15.00 on the personal touches that can make a cake really unique. With a little extra time and planning, you can have a creative themed cake in a few hours.
This Beach birthday cake is the first creative cake I created, it is made from very simple ingredients. This idea can be used for either a birthday, graduation, or simply a beach themed party. I placed two sheet cakes side by side on a platter, and iced them in white icing. I then iced with blue icing (made with blue food coloring), and used brown sugar for the sand. I placed Teddy Grahams, with icing bathing suits, on little chairs, and added a few small dollhouse objects for a fun scene. Even a small sandcastle made out of brown sugar (the sugar is sticky and packs very well). The only limit to how creative your cake can get it is your own imagination!
I believe that it is simple to make any themed cake for way cheaper than specialty stores charge. Just invest a little time thinking of what you want to do, check out the grocery store or craft store for inspiration, and get to it. Make your child's birthday this year one they will remember. Ever since dreaming up and creating this cake, I have been my family's designated cake designer for birthdays, and I love doing it. Get your family involved, and make this birthday cake one to remember!
I originally planned this Beach Birthday Cake with a week in mind but the friend I made it for suddenly told me his wife’s birthday was the following day.
This was a chocolate chip sponge cake with a chocolate ganache filling and chocolate butter cream covering.
The figure wasn’t easy to make as the spotlights in my kitchen dried out the sugar paste. I made the female figure and added a red bikini I then use Royal Icing for the spots to create a yellow polka dot bikini. The crab was made out of sugarpaste.
Due to being short notice I had to make shortcuts and didn’t spend as much time as I wanted to on the umbrella, bucket and spade or beachball. The sand was brown sugar and looks just like a beach
To get the blue wavy look around the cake I used simply blue and white fondant folded several times then rolled out and looks just like the waves on the sea.
I hope you like it. My next two cakes are an Xbox look-alike and a Play station 3 look-alike and I'll post them when I have finished it.
For my daughter's 12th birthday, we were having a beach themed birthday party, and we wanted to make a cake that stood out! So I looked online, and took a few ideas and put them together to create our very own beach themed birthday cake.
We used brown sugar to make the sand, and added a few fun touches! My daughter, her friends and their parents really got a kick out of our creation!
This is the first time I decorated a cake. I made it for my nephew's 6th birthday. I got ideas from this website and just added some more stuff. Everyone loved this homemade beach theme birthday cake. It took a long time to draw the swimsuits on the bears, but it was worth it.
