My daughter was all about being a Princess when she was 2, so for her third birthday we had a Princess theme. This cake was by far my most challenging but was so much fun. I baked four assorted flavored 9" square cakes; layered the first three, cut the fourth cake in half to make the top of the castle. Covered the cake in basic homemade buttercream icing using the remaining icing for the ivy and windows. I covered five waffle ice cream cones in the icing and rolled them in pink and blue sugar crystals. Placed a toothpick with a flag on the tops of the cones. The grass surrounding the cake is tinted coconut flakes and the walk way to the front door is chocolate M&Ms. This was a total hit! I am not a professional cake decorator but love making cakes that make my daughter smile! You only have one birthday a year so make the best of it!
I have a pair of boy/girl twins and I try to always make them their own birthday cake. This year, for their 4th birthday, we did a theme of Pirates and Princesses. This is the castle cake that I made for her.
The cake recipe is an eggless, dairy-free chocolate recipe that I got years ago from a friend. I browsed on coolest-birthday-cakes.com for inspiration – you always have the best cakes!
Mine is 2 8-inch round cakes. To give this simple cake a castle look I frosted some sugar cones. To get some elevation to the middle sphere I had to improvise! I ended up using the last 2 graham crackers in the house. I broke them into quarter pieces to make a stack of 8, sticking them together with a thin layer of frosting, and braced with some carefully placed toothpicks.
The frosting is homemade butter cream, colored using Wilton colors. It was a very big hit!
I made this cake for my daughter's first bday. Got the idea from this website. The cake is lemon sponge cake.Used fresh butter cream icing. food colour.i used red ( for the pink & a mixture of red & blue colour for the purple coulouring. For the door I used chocolate mint sticks. used ice cream cones for the turette shredded coconut( green food colour) for the lawn. My 8 year old son was very very happy said i had to post it on the net as this website was where i got the ideas from. My family & friends were pleased too. The decorating didnt take me much time .Just had to meke sure the icing layer was fairly smooth

I was on a budget and I wanted her to have a gorgeous cake and so I got to browsing the pics online and my mom and I decided on a cake and so I made my own version of something I liked it turned out great I really liked it. This was my very first tier cake, and it has encouraged me to make plenty more. All tiers are chocolate, I used red coloring to dye store bought icing, and then a dairy queen ice cream cone frosted and sprinkled for the top.
The ribbon on top is a gift bow and the princesses are Styrofoam. It turned out wonderful. hope you have the same good luck :-)
This was the 3rd cake that I made since I have found the greatest ideas on this site.I'm not a cake baker just a new maw maw trying to make a grand baby smile .I got the cake recipe on recipezarr.com #69630 this is the recipe #. I have gotten the greatest compliments ever on this recipe. The towers are made of ice cream cones and m.m. fondant icing .All the flowers are fondant I found the cutter at party time. It's not a perfect looking cake but my Abby loved it .She ripped off the towers and started eating it right away.I made every thing edible. Even the grass.I hope you enjoy it as much as she did.
