Homemade Cowboy Roundup Cake

Homemade Cowboy Roundup Cake

I made this double chocolate Cowboy Roundup Cake cake for my nephew Tyler's 6th birthday tomorrow. I made a 9x13" for the bottom and a 6" round for the top. It's frosted with buttercream icing.

I piped the fence around the side first with Wiltons #47 tip then applied the grass with the #233.

The rope is made with fondant. I rolled out one long strip then used a toothpick to add the details. The horse shoe is made with gumpaste. After cutting the shape out I used a rubber stamp set to press the lettering into it, spelling out the Happy Birthday Tyler. After letting it sit overnight to harden, I mixed edible silver dust with a couple drops of vodka and then painted the horse shoe silver. The alcohol helps it dry faster.

The cowboy and cow figures are toys I picked up at the local toy store that the birthday boy will love playing with. This cake is very basic and very simple to make.

You did an awesome job on this cake. And what fun to add the cow patties!- Something to make the little cowboys laugh. It's very creative and extremely well done- looks professional!
