I made this Cowboy Hat birthday cake with 2 9 inch round cakes. The brim of the cake was made with marshmallow fondant. I had an old hat that my father in law gave my husband and I put plastic wrap over it and rolled out a thin 1/8″ round of fondant, and laid the fondant over the hat.
It took two days to semi dry since we live in a very humid area. I needed to use tooth picks to keep the brim curled until time to move the cake. The crown of the hat was carved with the laid cakes covered in same marshmallow fondant.
The hat was a big hit with my father in law.
