Coolest Princess Castle Cake

My little twin sisters wanted me to make a princess castle cake for their 7th birthday. I had previously done a castle cake before so that’s what they wanted this year.

This cake was made with a square plain cake with vanilla butter cream on the bottom and the top cake was made from chocolate sponge and chocolate butter cream in the middle. The towers I had to make a few days early along with the butterfly decorations and the tops to the towers.

The towers were made from fondant wrapped around kitchen towel tubes. Once dry I then filled them with sweets and chocolate (which was a MASSIVE hit with the children who came to the party because when the twins blew out the candles we lifted up the four outside towers and out poured loads of sweets and chocolate). The tops of each tower was made from an ice-cream cone upside down and covered in fondant icing.

I then used royal icing for the vines and stuck the flowers on (the flowers were made a few days in advance from fondant icing so they could dry). Then I just used white chocolate buttons to decorate around the cake. Also I used my daughter’s play princess figures for the final touches (I didn’t have time to make the princess’s out of fondant) and sugar cubes around the top (I would of used mini marshmallows but my sisters are vegetarian) and wrote their names on using royal icing.

Overall I am so proud of this cake. It must be one of my favorites I have done but very time consuming but fantastic result.
