Spongebob Cake

I used a box cake mix for this Spongebob cake. I used white but you can use any flavor you want. It took me awhile to perfect the coloring. That was the trickiest part.

I used white frosting and yellow food coloring for the yellow portion of Spongebob. I used chocolate frosting for his pants. The black outline was done with a store bought black icing. Not the gel kind but the actual black frosting.

The color that really had me stuck was the mouth. I decided to use chocolate frosting and add red food coloring to get the maroon mouth color. I used the bags for the icing on some of the intricate details. The hardest part of this cake decorating was trying to do the outline with a toothpick before I started frosting. I had a picture for reference but it still was hard to get it to look like Spongebob.

I made this cake for my daughter’s 3rd Birthday and she loved it! It was a lot of work but it was all worth it!
