I made this Box of Candy cake for my husband for Valentine’s day. It is a red velvet cake, covered in butter cream. I used marshmallow fondant that I tried to tint red. I am not very happy with my red, but next time I make this I may just order red fondant.

I traced out my heart onto fondant using the heart shaped pan I baked the cake in. Next, I cut out a second heart about an inch and a half wider. I then cut out a strip to go around box. I placed my baked cake on bigger heart, then placed the smaller heart on top of cake, then placed the strip around the whole cake.

I finished by making cake balls using chocolate cake and covering in almond bark for candy. I end up with a cake that is totally edible from top to bottom.
