I created this family tree cake for our Thanksgiving dessert. It was fun and easy to make. Best of all my family loved it, especially since it was so personal with their “faces” as the main decoration!
The 9×13 cake is carrot with cream cheese frosting. I used brown, copper, buttercup, ivory and moss green tints. The border is piped with a star tip. I used a larger star tip to create the tree trunk. The leaves were created using tip 68.
I made the faces in advance using royal icing (I had extra royal icing otherwise I would have easily created them using frosting with the same tips). For the faces I used tip 1A. Tips 1-3 were used to create the facial features.
