Easy Homemade Princess Crown Cake

I made this princess crown cake for my niece’s first birthday. It was a last minute thing, but since I do all my cakes the night before, it was no big deal.

I started with a picture of a crown decoration and drew it onto card stock for a template. Then I froze the cake for a few hours. For this cake, I made two cakes, both 9×13 so we had two different cake mixes. I cut the template in half and traced one half on the choc cake and the other half on the van cake. Then cut them out with a sharp knife.

I then laid them together and put a thin layer of icing in between to help them stick. I tinted vanilla icing pink and iced the whole cake. I used red sprinkles and outlined the top edges with red M&M’s. I used pink marshmallows cut in half as the outer border and the peaks are iced van wafer circle cookies with a pink malted milk ball on top.

I also used the pink malted milk balls, cut in half, to make the number one.

It was a hit! A cake fit for a princess!
