My son loves Spongebob Squarepants. I wanted to make him a cake instead of buying one for him for his 8th birthday. For this SpongeBob Cake Design, I used fondant. I had never make a cake using fondant before so it was a challenge.
I used a 2 square cakes. I added buttercream to each cake and then stacked them. I then covered the cake with yellow fondant and used cookie cutters to cut his name out using fondant as well. I didn’t have any patterns so the eyes, tie, eyelashes etc. I cut out freelance. The pants were a bit difficult as you can see. I used the wooden cake dowels and wrapped fondant around them to make the legs.
He loved his cake and I was impressed with myself for never having done anything like this before.
