I made this Hannah Montana Guitar Cake for my 4 year old stepdaughter's birthday party. She is a big Hannah fan!
The bottom cake is 2 x 1/4 sheets together, made of funfetti cake mix. The guitar is made of 2 x 1/4 sheet cakes of devil's food cake mix. I cut the neck out of one cake and the body of guitar out of other. I found some patterns of guitars online that I liked, and then just cut them out.
Laid patterns on cake and went around cake with sharp knife. Be sure cakes are completely cool, to prevent crumbs. I iced the bottom cake first and allowed time for icing to setup some before placing guitar on top. Iced guitar in purple then allowed it to setup before finishing. Used play guitar daughter had to make few designs on guitar.
The control knobs are Reese cups, the bars for strings are Kit Kat bars, the rivets down the neck are Reese pieces, and the string screws at top of neck are junior mints with toothpicks in them. I tried to make everything edible on cake so no one eats something they shouldn't. Wanted to use string licorice for strings but couldn't find any. Some just went regular old white icing.
She was amazed at her party. She gave me a big hug when she saw it. Everyone loved cake, big hit for me!!
I came up with the idea for this Hannah Montana Guitar Cake when my daughter said she wanted a Hannah Montana cake. I looked at cake pans and finally decided I could draw a guitar shape and decorate it better than with the star pan.
I used my son's guitar hero and traced it onto a cake board then cut it out. I baked two 11x15 inch white cakes, filled it with caramel cream and put it in the freezer for 2 hours. After it was hard I placed the cutout on top of one cake and cut around it. I did the same for the handle part of it.
Then I used store bought buttercream icing and dyed it purple and pink using gel color. I left a little bit white for decorating and for the yellow stars and words. I frosted the main guitar shape first with purple and then put the pink icing in a Ziploc bag with a round decorating tip in the bottom corner. I drew out the inside shape of the guitar and colored it in. Then I frosted the other cake in pink.
I used Gumdrops and dum-dum suckers for decorating and the white icing for the strings. My 5 year old loved it and everyone thought I bought it.

I made this Hannah Montana Guitar cake for my niece's fifth birthday party. She is crazy about Hannah Montana, so I wanted to attempt a Hannah Montana guitar cake.
The cake itself is a standard yellow cake with pineapple filling. After filling and icing the cake, I sculpted it with a serrated knife. I made a template from poster board and simply laid it on top of the cake and cut around it.
It is covered with fondant that I tinted a lavender color. I used a store bought Wilton fondant that I find easy to work with. My neighborhood grocery store has a bakery and they will print a picture (as long as it doesn't have a copyright)onto edible icing. I had them do a pic of Hannah Montana and it came out great. It can be a bit tricky to peel off, but if you're careful you should be okay.
For the sides of the cake, I added all of my niece's favorite Hannah Montana songs. The hard work paid off in a big way when I saw her smile.
