This was a homemade Hannah Montana Guitar birthday cake.
I made it out of two cakes: one in a baker's sheet pan and one in a 13" x 9" cake pan. I always make my cakes the night before and put them in the freezer over night; it keeps them moist and makes them easier to sculpt.
The next day, I used the large cake for the body of the guitar. I used brown food coloring to paint an outline of the design and a sharp knife to cut out the body. It took a total of about three hours to decorate the cake. I started in the middle with white, then covered the rest with the purple.
Later, I sculpted the second cake into the neck of the guitar and covered that in white and purple. The piping came last. It took quite a while to complete this cake, but it was a huge hit at my niece's fourth birthday party!
I just started experimenting with fondant. I was asked if I would make a Hannah Montana guitar cake for my niece's birthday. I thought I would give it a try! I used a half sheet cake for the bottom, covered with white fondant and Hannah Montana themed colored stars, and painted swirls.
For the guitar (inspired from the Disney Hannah Montana electric guitar), I cut the body from a half sheet and covered with fondant details. I painted white pearl on the white parts and swirl designs. For the fingerboard, I covered a piece of white foam board with fondant and attached with wooden dowels.
I embellished the fingerboard with little rhinestones. I would have done the neck a little differently next time, but this was the first time experimenting! The Hannah Montana print is an edible print I got from the local cake supply store that I put on fondant...the colors for the stars came from the print!

I made this Hannah Montana Guitar Cake for my niece's 5th birthday. I used a Wilton Guitar Cake pan and followed the instructions for the electric guitar. I used a yellow cake mix and cut the cake in half to put frosting in the middle, for a little extra something!
I iced the whole cake in white icing. Then I made dark and light purple and black icing. I "drew" the guitar design on the cake with a toothpick. I think outlined the base of the guitar with a #3 tip in black icing. Then I used the star tip and filled in the base with the dark and light purple stars.
I started with the dark purple then worked my way to the light purple. I then added the handle of the guitar freehand with icing. Then I put on the guitar strings with white icing and I wrote Happy Birthday Sierra in black icing.

I made this Hannah Montana Guitar Cake for my friend's daughter birthday party. Her theme of course was Hanna Montana.
I started by making a normal 2 layer vanilla sheet cake and filled it with strawberries and cream cheese. I then baked the guitar in the same flavors as the sheet cake, using a Wilton guitar shaped cake pan.
I frosted the bottom sheet cake with pink buttercream then I placed the guitar on top. I frosted the guitar with purple buttercream. I frosted the trim, and inside of guitar with a star tip in darker purple and pink buttercream. I also used black and white buttercream for guitar chords and details.
For the Hannah Montana touch I placed pink plastic music notes around the sheet cake as well as Hannah Montana Star picks around the sides of the sheet cake.
