Homemade Hamburger and Fries Cake

Homemade Hamburger and Fries Cake

I made this Hamburger and fries cake for my kids. I have been practicing making cakes with fondant. This was my second fondant cake. I made homemade marshmallow fondant. I baked four cakes, I used 8" pans, and one brownie in an 8in pan. I used two cakes for the top and bottom buns. I carved the top bun to make it look more bun shaped. I dyed my fondant a light brown and placed it on the buns.

I next made all the condiments out of fondant. Onions, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles and cheese. I stacked it like a burger would be stacked. And I used frosting for the ketchup and mustard. I made cake fries. I cut up pieces of cake in the shape of fries, then I placed them in the oven to give them a brown look. I made ketchup packets from fondant and placed it with the fries. I put icing ketchup on the fries. I also added little dots of white frosting on the top bun for sesame seeds.

My kids came home from school and just loved it.

Homemade Hamburger And Fries Birthday Cake

Homemade Hamburger And Fries Birthday Cake

I made this Hamburger And Fries Birthday Cake for my son's first Birthday. We were having a "Diner" theme and made burgers and root beer floats.

The "Bun" is a round cake for bottom, and I baked the top in a bowl to give the rounded look. The "hamburger patty" is a brownie. I then used melted starburst I flattened out as "cheese", candied fruit for tomatoes, and fruit strips for lettuce. I wanted to use green fruit roll ups but couldn't find them. Then just used icing for ketchup and mustard.

I sprinkled with sesame seeds (you can't taste them at all) and it looked great. I iced the top and bottom but left brownie plain. My icing I made root beer flavored because of the theme and the mix of flavors was great !

For the fries I made a pound cake then sliced it into fry shapes then baked the slices so they became crispy and more icing for ketchup and mustard. It was fun and really easy!

Homemade Hamburger and Fries Birthday Cake Design

This is a Hamburger and Fries Birthday Cake Design which got quite a few looks at
my kids birthday parties (they asked for it twice). It is made from 3 nine" rounds, 2 yellow and 1 chocolate. The chocolate round is the burger patty (of course) and is frosted with chocolate frosting. The bun is frosted
with a pale yellow frosting and glazed with thinned chocolate syrup.

Before I put the bun top on, I squirted red (no taste) for ketchup and bright yellow for mustard. I made lettuce and cheese out of fondant-(homemade). It took some fussing with the colors, but that was fun. When the top bun is on and glazed, I sprinkled with rice krispies.

The fries are yellow cake slice in 2" by 2" strips and frosted with light yellow frosting. They need to be frosted or they will dry out. I made a paper sleeve for them to stickout of and squirted a pile of red frosting for ketchup.

I made this hamburger cake using my Bake'n Fill dome pan. The "bun" is yellow cake and the burger is chocolate. I made BC icing using the Wilton method and tinted it with some brown food coloring for the bun and the sesame seeds are almonds. The lettuce, mayo, cheese and ketchup are all BC as well. They're just piped on.

The ketchup and mayo were done with a #10 tip, the cheese with a #3 and the lettuce with the #352. I got the chocolate icing recipe from recipezaar it used melted butter, cocoa, vanilla, powdered sugar, milk and salt. I froze some fudgefilled fudgeshoppe cookies and chopped them up for the texture of the burger.
