Coolest Pirate Birthday Cake

This Pirate Birthday Cake is a cake I baked and decorated using 2 9″X13″ cakes and 1 round cake. I placed the 2-9X13’s side by side (trim the top of each to make flat and reserve the excess for a beach area) on a prepared cake board and iced them with blue icing that did not have the color mixed completely through to make the water looking color.

I cut a bottom for the pirate ship out of the middle of the round cake and placed it on the corner of the cake and iced it brown with a flat tip to look like boards. Casey painted the little wooden pirate ship himself and I used 3 dowel rods to support it.

I used the excess cake that was shaved off the top of the 9X13’s in order to make them flat, to make the beach area. I iced this in a tan color and then used raw sugar to look like sand. The sea creatures are just store bought fondant tinted with Wilton food coloring and made by hand to resemble each (just go back to your childhood and pretend you’re playing with play doh).

I hand painted little eyes with black food coloring and a paint brush. The sides are the same color as the beach area and iced flat.
