Coolest Pirate Ship Cake

I did this Pirate Ship cake for my step-son’s 7th birthday, pirate theme! This cake is as seen in the Australian Woman’s Weekly Kids party Cakes book (a must have).

The cake is make in a 26cm x 36cm (sorry metric) baking pan. Cut the cake into four pieces (2 long bits at the bottom, 2 small bits at the top, like a crucifix) and freeze to prevent crumbling during icing. Jam (jelly) the two long bits on top of each other, place one small bit on either end of the long pieces. Hold together with 3 skewers and the back of the boat, 2 at the front. Trim the front of the boat into a triangular shape to make the nose of the ship.

Ice completely with black icing. And decorate. I used curly wurlys for the decking sides of the ship, life savers, pebbles and a chocolate toffee stick for the plant. 3 skewers with paper sails and a printed jolly roger.
