This Finding Nemo cake was done for a little boy. Around the edge of the cake I used sherbet to look like sand, up the sides of the cake I put green icing to look like seaweed. I mixed a green and blue icing together loosely so that it made a marble effect for the sea.
I also made small pebbles out of icing and put them around the edge to hide the join in the cake. I made a template out of card for Nemo and cut the icing out. I was really pleased with the end result.
I found a cake similar to this Finding Nemo cake on your site and thought I could probably make it. I used the sports ball pan with a 6 inch cake in the middle.
I iced the cake in buttercream then covered that with orange fondant. The white stripes are fondant too, the black stripes are buttercream icing. I used a Styrofoam board with a dowel in the cake to keep it in place. I used the ball and veining tool to make the face.
All the fins are also Styrofoam covered in buttercream.
I made two cakes, the first was a Wilton Nemo mold, and the second was a larger rectangle shape. I used the Nestle boiling water chocolate cake, which I love. I then spread some jam in the middle of the rectangle cake before placing the cooked Nemo cake on top.
I decorated the rectangle as the sea based on designs I have seen on this page. For the Nemo fish I followed the instructions with the pan. The combination turned into a beautiful presentation that was appreciated by all the kids at the party.
my son is so into movies.and he loves fishes so much and everything and anything about the sea thats why i thought of a finding nemo themed cake for his 3rd birthday.i found the idea in this site.from baking the cake to decorating it.but this one i just decorated the cake,i didnt bake since i was so busy that day,i didnt have time.all are made of fondant icing using MM fondant that i made from scratch.i used powdered coloring since i cant find liquid coloring in our neerest supermarket.and here it goes...
I browsed and found many ideas from the other Finding Nemo birthday cakes on this site. I managed to come up with an original looking three-layer cake, with lots of tropical-colored candies and icing to border and be visually appealing.
I ordered a set of mini figurines off of EBay and used the characters on the corners, and a special Nemo candle that looked like it said 'one' at the very top.
It came out excellent and I was very pleased. Even her miniature two-layer cake came out great. Everyone loved them!
My husband and I made this Homemade Finding Nemo Birthday Cake for my son’s 1st birthday. We used Wilton food coloring and fondant. Then we melted different colors of chocolate to put in sea life molds. We made the characters out of fondant too. Took us about 3-4 hours. Not bad for first timers I think.
